The Job Market Hotness Index

Score 79/100 — a heating market with 31,289 open roles across 20 countries and broad employer competition.

Hotness measures employer demand — how much hiring heat is on the board right now, not whether you should switch.

DocuResume publishes the Job Market Hotness Index each cycle: a 0–100 composite of employer-side hiring heat on our live job board. This week scores 79 — a heating market — built from open demand, posting velocity, geographic breadth, and competition signals we extract from ingest, not sentiment surveys.

The formula weights open demand (30%), posting velocity (25%), market breadth (25%), and employer competition (20%). It complements the Switch Job Index, which measures candidate mobility timing — hotness answers how much heat employers are putting on the board.

This week's reading

Open demand scored 85: 31,289 roles live on the board puts us in the top tier for absolute hiring volume. Posting velocity held at 64 after an ingest ramp — day-over-day volume is flat at scale, which reads as sustained heat rather than a one-day spike.

Market breadth maxed at 100 with 20 active countries and eight employer sources. Employer competition scored 62 — 18% of listings carry salary bands and 556 internship openings signal early-career pipeline activity, though pay transparency still has room to climb.

How to use the index

80–100 (scorching): employers are competing for attention — tailor aggressively, lead with match score on high-fit roles, and move quickly on shortlists.

60–79 (heating up): solid demand supports an active search — prioritize quality applications over volume and watch breadth for geographic options.

40–59 (warm baseline): the board is open but not surging — deepen pipeline quality and salary context before expanding scope.

Below 40 (cool): posting volume and breadth are thin — keep networking warm and defer broad pivots until demand recovers.

Hotness vs. switching

Hotness tells you how much hiring activity exists; the Switch Job Index tells you whether now is the right moment to change roles. A scorching board with low mobility signals means lots of jobs but little churn — tailor for fit. High hotness and high switch scores together favor pivots into adjacent titles gaining share.
